MATH

For younger students the Math curriculum focuses on introducing the concept of counting and numbers. As their skill level with numbers progresses, addition and subtraction along with relevant word problems will be introduced. In addition, these students will be taught time, money, and graphs supplemented with pattern recognition and measurement. The focus for these grades is mental math for addition and subtraction. Building on these simple concepts will help students to transition to the next level.

LANGUAGE ARTS

Starting with level K, students will be introduced to phonics, sight words, rhyming words, and blending. Also, pre-writing skills such as introduction to writing the alphabet and numbers, simple words and simple sentences. Then, pre-reading skills will be introduced where they will explore words, long & short vowels, consonants, building words, proof reading & editing. As they progress, they will be introduced to simple reading comprehension, sentence mechanics, punctuation, parts of speech, fundamentals of writing, and basic essay writing.
